SAYOWA is:
Theo van der Loo -  voz/guitar
Adriano Rongel - guitar
Juca Infante - bass
Raphael Laport - bateria
Bernardo Badin - percussion
Roberto Colonese - percussion

Biography:
Heavy and percussive are words that describe the music of SAYOWA.  Their progressive style explores the variations of metal music in an incredibly unique way. The band has just recorded its first album, with songs that embody the immense energy of heavy music through the use of low-tuned guitars in conjunction with heavy “tambores” or percussion instruments.

Translated, "SAYOWA" means "brother" in Akawaio, which is the language of an indigenous tribe from Northern Brazil.  The band formed in late 2000, when drummer Raphael Laport met singer and guitarist Theo Van der Loo, who had already been playing with bassist Juca Infante.  As a trio, the band recorded its first demo-CD. During this time, guitarist Adriano Rongel joined up.  Shortly thereafter, heavy drummers Roberto Colonese and Bernardo Badin were brought on, finalizing the band’s extensive lineup.

SAYOWA'S live performance debut was during the Freakshow Festival, which took place in Rio de Janeiro during late 2002. In March of 2003, the band shared the stage with Sepultura, one of the most highly respected and iconic hard rock bands in the world.  Even Sepultura’s members were quite impressed with SAYOWA’s pulsing energy that could be felt through their music.  Earlier this year, SAYOWA performed several shows with Sepultura throughout Spain. As a result of these shows, the band was asked to play at Vega Rock 2005 with headline acts Megadeth and Fear Factory.  Soon after followed SAYOWA's first-ever headlining European tour.

In the beginning of 2004, Billy Graziadei, singer and guitarist for Biohazard, mixed one of SAYOWA’s songs in his studio in New York. This phenomenal track can be heard on the bands debut album, entitled “Treme Terra” (Earth Shaker).  In April of the same year, Andreas Kisser, guitarist of Sepultura, recorded guitar tracks in a total of three SAYOWA songs that are also on this album.

Earlier this year, SAYOWA was invited to participate on a tribute album for Megadeth, another highly influential and esteemed metal band.  Sayowa recorded the song, "Trust.” This album will be released in both Europe and Argentina under the name "Hangar of Souls - a Tribute to Megadeth.”

Updates:
SAYOWA is currently in the studio recording their second album. The album features 10 tracks and is being produced by SEPULTURA's Andreas Kisser, who also participated on SAYOWA`s first album, "Treme Terra", playing guitar on three songs. The album is scheduled to be released by the end of 2006.
